SYNOPSIS
Belle-Île en mer, a penal colony for children and Jacques Prévert...
Teenager, then young adult, Jacques Prévert spends his holidays in Sauzon. In 1934, a general rebellion of the young colonists is severely repressed with the
assistance of the inhabitants and the tourists. at that time the opinion starts to call in question the
legitimacy of the penal colonies for children and where dramatic facts multiply.
Prévert openly takes party against the penal colonies for children and works out
since 1935 a scenario, "the island of the lost children", putting in scene the penal colony for children of Belle-Île en mer. Marcel Carné starts in 1936 the production of the project
. This film will be the cruelest wound of its career. "the island of the lost children become " The prime of life " will know a beginning of shooting in Belle-Île en mer in 1947 with Arletty, Serge Reggiani, Martine Carol, Paul Meurisse... and will never be finished.
The subject puts in prospect the the penal settlement for children, the alive traces that it remains about it today (the penal settlement
become Reformatory closed its doors in 1977) and the turbulent history
of film " The prime of life " which wanted to tell the destiny of the small convicts who were
locked up there.
Historical subject, social subject, topic of all the times with this additional key of improbability which
reality chooses sometimes to be expressed...
